He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

If we think about that line, "He must increase and I must decrease," that really is basically the bottom line of our spiritual life! The problem that we have with every single sin is our ego gets inflated and out of control. And we are so full of ourselves that we leave no room for God. So the answer in our spiritual life to almost every single sin is that God must increase and we must decrease.
